GT SALVAGE AUCTIONS

BUYER’S GUIDE

Everything you need to know before you bid.
From registration to collection, here’s how buying a vehicle through GT Auction works.

HOW IT WORKS

YOUR JOURNEY FROM REGISTRATION TO COLLECTION.

Buying a vehicle through GT Auction is simple. Follow these steps to get started.

01

02

GET APPROVED

Pay your R5,000 refundable bidder deposit. Once your documents and deposit have been verified, your account will be approved for bidding.

03

FIND A VEHICLE

Browse current auctions, review vehicle details and photos, and inspect the vehicle where inspection is available.

04

PLACE YOUR BID

Bid online from your approved account. Keep an eye on the auction closing time and your current bid status.

05

WIN & PAY

If you're the successful bidder, you'll receive an invoice showing the purchase price, applicable fees and payment deadline.

06

COLLECT

Once payment and documentation have been verified, you'll receive your Release Note and can arrange collection.

BEFORE YOU BID

BE PREPARED. BID WITH CONFIDENCE.

Take a few important steps before placing your bid.

CHECK THE VEHICLE

Salvage vehicles may be damaged, incomplete, non-running or not roadworthy. Review the photos, description and available documentation carefully. Where viewing is available, we recommend you inspect the vehicle in person.

UNDERSTAND THE COSTS

Your winning bid may not be the final amount payable. Check the applicable buyer’s premium, administration fees, document fees, VAT and any lot-specific charges before bidding.

KNOW YOUR LIMIT

Decide what you’re prepared to pay before the bidding starts getting competitive. Set a budget and stick to it.

YOUR R5,000 BIDDER DEPOSIT

ONE DEPOSIT. BID ON MULTIPLE AUCTIONS.

Take a few important steps before placing your bid.

Your R5,000 bidder deposit is refundable security linked to your approved bidder account. It is not a participation fee.

You don’t need to pay another R5,000 every time you bid. Your deposit can remain on your account while you continue using GT Auction.

REFUNDABLE SECURITY

R5,000 deposit held as security for your bidder account.

ONE DEPOSIT

Use the same deposit for multiple auctions.

NOT A PARTICIPATION FEE

The deposit is not a fee to simply take part in an auction.

REFUNDS AVAILABLE

You may request a refund if you have no outstanding purchase or amount owing to GT Auction.

SALVAGE VEHICLES ARE DIFFERENT.

Many vehicles sold through GT Auction are accident-damaged, recovered, incomplete, non-running or otherwise require repair.

INSPECT BEFORE BIDDING

Where viewing is available, take advantage of it.

DON’T ASSUME ROADWORTHINESS

A vehicle that starts or moves is not necessarily safe or legally roadworthy.

PLAN YOUR COLLECTION

Damaged or non-roadworthy vehicles may need to be transported or towed from the premises.
